Work > Of History and Fictions

Identity is self-defined by place, traces of the past, and archived knowledge. Seeking more information about her heritage beyond what was passed down through generations, Murillo turned to science. The work is an attempt to reconcile what she accepts as her identity with unknown information about her lineage revealed through DNA testing. With this newly accessible technology, combined with travel and first hand experiences in ancestral homes Murillo has begun the process of reforming her identity.
